We started SONORAVN to slow things down. Not another catalogue of things made quickly and shipped cheaply, but a small collection of goods made by hand, in small batches, by people who know the materials well.
Everything begins in Vietnam — water hyacinth cleared from waterways in the Mekong Delta, rattan grown between rice seasons, coconut shells that would otherwise be discarded, silk offcuts from Hanoi's weaving houses. We work directly with the artisan groups and social enterprises who turn these materials into something worth keeping.
Nothing here is mass-produced. Each collection stays small on purpose, because that's the only way the work stays honest.

Vụn Art is a social enterprise based in Hanoi, recognized by UNESCO for its work. It takes fabric offcuts left over from Vietnam's silk workshops — scraps too small for garment-making — and gives them to artisans with disabilities, who piece them by hand into bags, coasters, and wall art.
Each piece is one of a kind, because no two offcuts are ever quite the same. Working with Vụn Art meant the collection had to be built around what the artisans already do well, not the other way around — so the designs stayed simple, and the patchwork stayed honest.

Rooted in Nature and the Vụn Art Collection come from different materials and different hands — water hyacinth and rattan on one side, reclaimed silk on the other — but they're built the same way. We find people who already know a material well, and we build the collection around what they do best, not the other way around.
That means smaller batches, longer lead times, and pieces that don't look quite like anything mass-produced. It's slower than the alternative, and it stays that way on purpose. As SONORAVN grows, this is the part we're not willing to trade away.
The shop lives on Etsy — everywhere else is where the process, the styling, and the day-to-day happen.
